20th of October, Simferopol. A jump from Kiev train and the Fun Fair band including the support team is on the ground of the southern capital. The city pays us a lot of attention coming from local station based taxi drivers and barmaids. But the most pleasant thing is the nice warm and sunny weather, a lot difference from Kiev...read more

Having a bunch of time before sound check, we devote keeper's task to railway hotel, leave near the half of our setup there (including concert coats and valenkis, special thanks to our band manager), and head for the nearest park. There we spend our spare time by strentching before the show. Exercises include: eating sandwiches, trying some scenic jumps, juggling with Adam's apples, shooting welcoming video, talking in Japanese and musical conversation with young Poles accidentally appearing in the park…

Anyway, time to go! The last breathe of fresh air, and a bus taken alive drives us to local DK UTOG (or cultural centre of Ukrainian Society of Deaf People). The building has a kinda gothic and hard-rocking look and brings us deeper in the atmosphere of the upcoming show (just L@@K at this!). 150 seats are empty for the moment, we are first. In some time we see other bands coming - next to us appear the Admiral Benbou from Eupatoria. The stage equipment truck is late for two hours, but as soon as it appears here, the tempo of installation starts giving us some hope.

18-00, sound check starts. We're last in the row, and we are to open the show after that. The tempo is so-o-o slow that we almost believe, we won't play today. Our train to Kiev leaves at 21-17! So comes the decision to trim down our set. 19-15, the audience is inside and waiting, sound check is still on the way, nerves at the breaking point, but at last we get "Fun Fair, on stage!" at 19-35.

3-minute check and the "demons of rock" - thats for us from the MC - are up with the following set:

-    Jonny B. Goode
-    Down on the Corner
-    Black Night
-    Love of My Life
-    Another One Bites the Dust
-    Crossroads Blues
-    Lavender
-    The Loser in the End

The on-stage sound becomes worse, as the show begins. So playing we have to depend on the sixth sense more than ever. The others depressing factors are the long delay and the time limits we have. So the set goes straight to the audience like a projectile, we have a lyrical digression only on Love of My Life. Nevetheless, the number of classic rock admirers there is enough to give us a good encouragement. A lot of support for that comes from our hi-energy front-man. The last chords... and it's done! A short interview, little talk to the one of the listeners and the bus is taking us  back to the railway station. Tired, morally exhausted but in general still glad. Thanks to everyone for supporting us that day!

Our special thanks for the photos (see gallery) and video go to Irene and Êàòðèí!
