Page 1 of 4 Quite unexpected, but our bassman, Serhij Wdowyczenko, stands out as a real reporter from this year's Slavske Rock-Fest. His impressions and photos are gladly shared with us in this material.
I visit Slavsko almost every winter. As for summertime, I was here only in 1986, during Chernobyl disaster. The little town, all white and usual dressed in show, felt quite unrecognizable in summer heat. The picture in my head did not correspond to what I saw, only the pathways and ski-tracks (which anyway are common pathways in summer) helped it a little bit. To help finishing daylight activities and duties we took Friday overnight train from Kyiv, and arrived in Slavsko accordingly, near 2 p.m. next day.But taking into account that the festival was held for a first time, there was a quite slow motion out there. Not so many people (no problem for me), but regarding this all the additional events (excluding concert, of course), were cancelled by the show organizers. Despite this fact, the 25 UAH ($5) tickets were taken to enter the show area - giving you a programme and promo CD. Sure, one could easily get round without paying, you just have to cross the rope or sit behind it (and still hear everything :) a lot of people have done that, making the fan crowd only after sunset). But we decided to support young festival with our bank notes. We get programme and promo CD, and move right in the sun, the foolball field of Slavsko. The visitors are met by two flags, a red-black and a red one, coming probably straight from Gulyay-pole.

Inspired by this good example, my companions also decided to support suffering (from heat) musicians by raising our national Ukrainian flag.

Although there was a few people in front of the stage (near a hundred festival guests in the daylight, mostly greenhorns from Lviv), they had quite an enthusiasm! Moshing', singin' and dancing — all that was done in the burning heat to encourage the musicians facing the cruel sun on the stage.
Ten bikes for a thousand visitors, here we have one Dnipro-chopper for a hundred!
Little later, as number of the guests increased, the bike number doubled. Hey, guys, cmon, it's a ROCK fest — how do we get along without them?
